Mama's Mackin' Cheese
"No matter where you go, it's the same damn thing". Again I quote Screamin' Jay Hawkins, this time on the bottomless appeal of pasta and cheese. Americans most often, despite station, have a fondness even if it's a closet one for that from of the blue box. Prison, naturally, has this staple in spades lining lockers like bookshelves of matching cardboard covers amplifying their appeal.
There's a variety of versions of this staple I cook, usually boiling down to what ingredients are there then that work. When I really show out, I use egg noodles, cream of mushroom soup, Italian blend, Mozzarella block, shredded Cheddar, milk, and a bevy of spices. There's a spectrum between that and this failsafe I ain't dissing a lick. It's luscious, flavorful, and the combo prison platter of on the cheap and the fast.
Meet your bachelor/ette party of one happy binge-space tonight, or something kids can not only pig out on but make, main dish, side plate, midnight snack, cold leftover breakfast hangover helper, and don't say 'Mama never gave ya nothin'!
