Speaking of an unwinnable culture war, ending a TV show of significance on a cliffhanger presents a segue, right? Weeks ago I kvetched then bravoed season six of "DCs Legends of Tomorrow" appearing in our pitiful tablet selection. Under the mistaken belief it was the finale because a) bad intel and b) I'm on Jerk Island without internet. I should've asked Gideon... I mean Mizz Angie to check and see but for some insane reason I trusted inmate.com, a subsidiary of MSNBC.

     After the horror show of the DCLoT ending I consulted parolee pal Crowe to tell me the Legends fate. Worse than Blue Head dumping them out the airlock. Cancellation limbo. A Black-washed Booster Gold without a show (minor irritant coz multiverse and a decent casting pick). The season was so magical too. The incantation is "Gideon" naturally. What is it with Brit actresses being so impressive I now understand that means leaving a stamp on somebody to describe them? Finally the prophesied perfection of her arrives naked as a jaybird and takes the already blissful superhero show that genre forgot by time-storm. The dissolving of the CW-Verse means a future gem with Captain Gideon's Waverider is a File 13. Sob.

Characters matching their sexual diagnoses is dynamite. Spooner felt deliciously tangible as asexual, not in patronized "special snowflake" but rare earthly fashion. It bordered on something - refreshingly stereotypical. When something occurs repeatedly, like masculine women who arent into sex for argument's sake, why be afraid or shamed from reflecting reality? Its one thing when ceaselessly overloaded with negative images BUT today were awash in positivism allowing for polarity. Many homosexuals are assholes (on account of them being people) with sexuality often a piece in that obnoxiousness. Showing this in drama, comedy, horror, or any genre at this point should be groovy. We don't have to be good guys every time. That's false and reeks of special and undeserved treatment. No demographic should be privileged that way if we want authenticity in our entertainment and art. Crummy writing with disingenuous characters of race or sexuality should die already. Designating asexuality seemed lame to me before this, honestly. Good on you, LoT - what happens with smart storytelling instead of "preacher-taining".

Seven's arc bordered on this but smartly rescued itself, analogous more to Roddenberry's Trek than post-Takei's moronic takedown (Earth President Stacey Abrams after an apocalypse resulting from January 6? QUIT IT). "A Womans Place Is In the War Effort" for example was on point showing the troubles of yesteryear without the present-ist lens cast on sharp Black women of then. The maternal figure Astra, Hell-queen turned Legend and champion of the oppressed bonds with was beautifully realized. My only nitpick was her dialogue sounding about as polished as Lady Roosevelt. Having her talk like a person of her station then but with the clear intelligence to match her White counterparts for me would've been a more robust approach. Some might view that as insulting. I see that perspective patronizing and more-so insulting. Allow people layers unapologetically and stop elevating them beyond where ANYONE can climb.

Prison + comics = crazy. Me being the fan I am spontaneous convos re: DC/Marvel/Indies erupt around me often. Inmates remember the damnedest untrue things from comic properties as if from a multiverse Earth remembering funny-books prior to a cosmic crisis. Problem? Correcting this can be unsafe. I've discovered if you really wanna see a convict become unhinged tell him The Joker did not historically wear a neck-load of gold chains, as example.

     My years ago bunky Joe, a Marine who watched FOX News like it was going out of style (2020 - it seriously wasn't) then moved upstairs and a week later walked down with a Koofi and prayer rug swore his Pop had a 196? Batman book with the Clown Prince of Crime bling-ed out. I subtly suggested an error, and veins bulged along with eyeballs. He asked if I thought he was lying and fight-or-flight kicked in. I split to make coffee and stayed away til his nap-time. Should you see Joe and hes wearing a trench-coat don't follow him into a government building would be my strict advice.

     Along came "Murderer" Mike claiming Spiderman kills on the regular. "Spectacular" though, not "Amazing". To any devout comic-nerd reading this: calm down, breathe, and maybe think about something pretty a minute before coming back. I'm headed nowhere, trust me. As Mike bears guns the size of my noggin and tells his gruesome plans for offing those who piss him off with stunning details regarding organ disposal, so be it. Peter Parkers a fucking maniac Wolverine stains his man-panties in terror over. No argument here, Comic Historian Mike.

  Tonight a (legitimate) gang-member told this kid who soaks up comic knowledge that Spiderman belonged to DC awhile, and appeared in some episodes of Justice League on Cartoon Network back in the day. That did it. Misinforming a doughy-eyed developing nerd? Not today, Essé. I told this mis-informant that tidbit was childhood revisionism and WRONG like a mofo. The kid was buying it and this future educator ain't having it.

I swore for decades "All In The Family", "Sanford And Son", and "The Jeffersons" all were censored now and originally cursed like sailors. I just KNEW I heard Archie Bunker say something to Edith regarding her "asshole" circa-1980 on then-WTBS, Atlanta's Superstation. I believed this to falling on that sword. Human memory is analog as all get out. Exactly why I don't care about historical prejudices. How do I know the Dark Ages were dark? History gets revised by them who lived it nonstop. I've watched it throughout this lifetime. The Eighties then was declared by most inhabitants a boring letdown. Now you'd think it was the freakin' Renaissance.

     All we know is not much at all, rewritten daily, and by machines now with "humanizers". Ugh, the world I'm slithering back to. Whoever made that tool deserves a firing squad or at least to be here. One sacrificial lamb then everybody'd start acting right. Whoops - my Totalitarianism is showing. Triple-Break-Time!
