Ho-kay, lemme yack a minute. Intro: gay Sociology student prison inmate in an Historically Black College and DC fanatic. This post hit my box today so I did some research from behind the Ultimate Firewall to answer.
First, I cannot and have not seen this. What I know - she was adorable in Gunn's "Superman" my new #1 superhero cinema joint replacing "The Suicide Squad", the flick "Justice League" shoulda been. She's beloved for that Dragon role (that give anybody else a Sushi yen?), and had the chops to bring "Woman of Tomorrow" a yarn about a Vietnam vet trying to follow the order to "be a good girl" plus live up to the outfit her baby cousin made into an insurmountable chore without "blooping out" (prisoner parlance for going apeshit and whooping or killing errbody) while living on that thread and prodded constantly also resemblant of many convicts...
Maybe the impetus got fuckt. Women, interestingly, reviewed this higher than men from a sample. This could tell a story. Men buy tickets to see a girl kick ass and if a loud narrative was there about feminism insulting those guys who were there for somebody to show up, not out, that's typical Warner/DC ball-fumbling. Lecturing a paying customer thirsting for entertainment? Bad move.
Plus, also, too, releasing a 1st shot character against a character with cache - Peter Parker was dumb and might be culprit, too.
We might have "Madame Web" syndrome with people trashing a movie on screens then having cult cinema status on devices. That after pretentious Dakota Johnson trashed all her coworkers pre-digital and shouldn't work again.

As for her looks, Melissa Benoit rocked Kara on TV and was immediately bashed by incels who wanted to whack on a beauty queen like Smallville's (Vandervoort was great, I'm not sexy-shaming). Our girl here is fine and dandy, and like Gal Gadot it ain't her fault the makers failed to meet the moment.
Never truer than Lewis C.K saying "Americans have to jack-off on EVERYTHING". Holy shit-balls, we had no idea how deeply he meant that. This might've impacted 5% of the market with dudes who get their only opportunity to reject a chick like her.
